Portfolio update – December 2020

Dear fellow investors, friends, family and future self.

Welcome to my first portfolio update, I hope you will enjoy them from now on. Now let’s get into things!

December 2020 was an OKish month, I was a little pissed that I had to pay back to the Taxman (Finanzamt in Germany) around 1500 for year 2019. I don’t know, maybe there is some optimisation that I can make, for the taxes in 2020 I will use a financial advisor, because I have a more complicated situation anyhow.

As I said, in the past year I could not dedicate too much money for investments, as we want to buy a house (we are actually in the process of buying one) and most of the money are saved for this purpose. At the moment, I invest 300 per month in the stock market. My investment account was at 4998, 671 more than previous month, broken down in 550 cash invested, 2,25 gained from dividends and 118,75 gained by assets appreciation. I use Trade Republic as a broker and if you create an account using this link, we will both receive a bonus of 15 after you’re first trade.

The other instrument where I am was invested in the stock markets is ROBIN, a robo-advisor from Deutsche Bank, but I am was not satisfied by its performance so in January I’ve liquidated the account. The account value is 2044, up with 13 compared to last month.

I had experienced investing into P2P lending with Mintos, but at the moment I am withdrawing until I took out 1500 from the initial investment of 2000€. At the moment I have 827 in the account, 4 more as last month. I have around half of the money (460€) in recovery, so my plan is that I will reinvest this money once it becomes available. I have still 50 to receive from paid back loans, and after that all the money paid back will be reinvested in Mintos. I am estimating that next month of maybe in February I will stop withdrawing and start reinvesting in Mintos.

For the near future I want to invest into another P2P platform, I am still studying what would be the best candidate. Do you have any suggestions?

Finally, some numbers about our total net worth: it increased by 1248€ compared to last month (savings + investments). The distribution of the worth looks like this:

I am very happy with the diversification I’ve achieved this year, managing to reduce the amount of real estate in our net worth. And, most important, the investments part was non-existent. Luckily, I have the same chart from last year and it looked like this:
