Portfolio update – September 2021

Dear fellow investors, friends, family and future self.

Welcome to my sixth portfolio update or the year 2021, I hope you enjoy them. I’ve decided to post updates at the end of the quarter, as things are not so interesting every single month. Now let’s get into things!

The last three months have been exhausting: after the move, which was quite in a rush, we had to arrange the old rental house for the next tenant (this is the unwritten rule in Germany, you get a newly painted and clean house, you need to leave it the same, otherwise the landlord will paint and fix damages out of your deposit). After we managed close the rental contract, we had work to do in our new house: small fixes, work in the garden, buying different furniture and appliances etc. And then it came the renovation of our attic, for the home-office. I think I’ve spent most of my free time in stores like IKEA, Höffner or Bauhaus.

We had a quick break with some days spent at the Baltic Sea, but our heads were thinking at all the things we have to do. And the weather was not so good (it was middle of July!), so I wouldn’t recommend it as a destination for a seaside holiday. It’s nice and Baltic Sea has its charm, but the weather is always a gamble. Next, I’ve started a new project at work, new colleagues, new technologies to learn, not the best time so this. BUT, on the same subject, I’ve got a better offer from another company and I will be starting a new job on 1st of November.

Considering all these, I’ve decided that I really need a proper vacation at the seaside, so I’ve booked a week in Alicante in October. Let’s hope the weather will be better this time.

That’s it from the personal side, let’s see how my investments performed:

My investment account was at 10,452€, 1435€ more than previous update, broken down in 1208€ cash invested and 277€ gained due to assets appreciation. September was quite a bad month, I had a loss around of 450€. I use Trade Republic as a broker and if you create an account using this link, we will both receive a bonus of 15 after your first trade.

I had experienced investing into P2P lending with Mintos, but at the moment I am withdrawing until further notice. At the moment I have 540 in the account. I have most of the money (460€) in recovery.

Finally, some numbers about our total net worth: it decreased by 3690€ compared to last month (savings + investments). The decreased is caused by different expenses: closing the deal for the new house, bigger renovations, materials and furniture, holiday etc. The distribution of the worth looks like this (I have not added the new house, as the selling process is not over yet):
